EndNote Online (formerly EndNote Web) is the web version of EndNote.
EndNote Online has similar, but more restricted, functionality to the desktop version of EndNote. It can be used to collect and manage references, create bibliographies, and insert citations into Microsoft Word using the Cite While You Write function.
You can add references, share your references with colleagues through the groups function, and sync with your desktop library so that you can access your library when you are away from your desk or at another computer.
EndNote Online can be used for a stand alone library or for transferring or accessing references when you are using more than one computer, and for collaborative sharing of libraries.
In your preferences options you can choose to automatically sync your EN library - this is the default - or you can deselect this option and sync when you want to - select this in your desktop EN library - Edit - Preferences - Sync
