Using EndNote to manage your bibliographic information.

Hints and tips

When choosing a style for your Independent Bibliography note that "Annotated" is a generic Author-Date style that displays the abstract.

"Show All" Style displays the information entered in all the fields for each reference.

Produce an Independent Bibliography

When using Cite While You Write in Word a Bibliography or Reference List is produced from the in-text citations you have inserted into your document from the EN library.

You may want to produce an independent or stand alone bibliography - independent of any in-text citations.
You can do this in 2 ways:

  • Copy formatted - in your EN library select all the references or select required references from which you want to generate a bibliography. Choose the referencing style - select Copy Formatted from the Edit menu - now paste these copied references into a Word document where you want this list to appear.

N.B. - this list has no field codes and can be edited as a normal Word document.

  • Export as a separate file - In your EN library select references and referencing style as above - select Export from the File menu - you can now save this as a separate file - choose to save this as a Word, Text, HTML or XML file.
