EndNote: Editing citations

Using EndNote to manage your bibliographic information.

Hints and tips

If you need to make any changes to your in-text citations - DO NOT do it directly in the Word document - use the Edit & Manage Citation(s) option in the menu.

  • Remove citation/s - click on the in-text citation - choose Edit & Manage Citation(s) - find your citation in the list - select remove citation from the drop down menu
  • Add page numbers - click on the in-text citation - choose Edit & Manage Citation (s) - find your citation - add the page no. in the pages box - if your style does not support cited pages - either change the style or add the page number in the suffix box exactly as you want it to appear including punctuation and spaces
  • The default formatting option for author-date styles is (author date) - but you can change this by choosing one of the other options from here - you can also exclude the author or the year
  • Cited in/cited by can be added in the prefix box - type it as you want it to appear including punctuation and spaces - this will appear inside the brackets in the in-text citation.
