Welcome

This is an extensive guide for students undertaking the Graduate Program in Food Studies
and the  undergraduate History course, Food and Drink in World History.

Use the blue tabs to find links to books, databases etc.

I have focussed on the core topic of Gastronomy, but there are excellent library guides for
related areas such as Food Writing, Anthropology, Wine, Tourism, Nutrition, Obesity and Food Microbiology.

TO GET YOU STARTED I have also prepared a brief guide:
Researching a topic for a major essay or dissertation
which you may find simpler to use.

Online students.....This  guide includes print resources which are available at the Barr Smith Library, University of Adelaide, but may also be available in other libraries if you check their catalogues.

If you are working remotely, you can limit your catalogue search to only electronic resources.
A SUMMON search (box on the left) will look for your keywords across all the library's print and electronic records and search results can be limited to electronic only. This works quite well for food studies, given the interdisiplinarity of many of the topics.
Some resources are available electronically, either free or by using your university user name and password as authentication.
If you are having problems, look at the explanations on our Electronic resource access problems page, and especially
the page for authentication.
The library offers a Remote students library service which can send your books and/or articles.

For any further help in finding or using these resources, please don't hesitate  to contact me.
Details under my photo.
