Search health databases

Learn how to use the major health databases to find the best available evidence for your research

Introduction to Advanced Searching

Our Introduction to Advanced Searching course will teach you how to develop and refine advanced search techniques for searching databases, including key health databases. It provides step-by-step guidance on formulating a search strategy and creating a logic grid for PubMed, Cochrane Library, CINAHL, Embase, Emcare and more.  It also includes information for health and medical students on evidence-based practice and clinical tools. We strongly recommend you enrol in the course and refer back to it across the course of your studies.

Which databases should I use?

Choose one of the recommended databases for your subject area by clicking on the 'databases' link below.

Each database indexes unique content, so to do a comprehensive search of the evidence, it is recommended that you use more than one database.
