Each database is different, however most will include a panel of search filters which can be used to limit results by date range, language, full-text articles and peer reviewed articles. Usually there is also an option to sort results by most recent, or by most relevant.
It is advisable to apply these filters at the end, once you are happy with your search strategy.
Search Tip: Try more than one search strategy
Once you begin examine the search results, you may discover additional useful keywords and synonyms. Feel free to add them to your list of search terms, and run an updated search. There is no single perfect search strategy. Often you need to try several until you are happy with the results.
