On Wednesday, 20 March 2024 the Library hosted a masterclass about using generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) tools, like ChatGPT, effectively and responsibly.
The session, specifically designed for students at the University of Adelaide, was structured in six sections.
The video recording of each section is provided below.
What AI is, different kinds of AI, what it's capable of, and possible use cases (9 min 40 sec)
High-level introduction to AI training, neural networks, Large Language Models, and how GenAI creates content (11min 30sec)
Tips and tricks for crafting effective prompts and having an iterative conversation with GenAI (28min 35sec)
How GenAI can be biased, hallucinate, etc., importance of keeping humans in the loop, and how to critically evaluate GenAI (12m 29sec)
Tips for acknowledging and citing use of AI in academic work (4min 52sec)
Overview of general AI ethics (eg. privacy, transparency, safety, etc.) and social/political/environmental impacts of AI training, compute, and use (4min 54sec)
A recording of the University of Adelaide Library's webinar that explores the intersection of Artificial Intelligence and Academic Integrity during Academic Integrity Week October 2024. (1h 3min)
